Lead Schools for Music

In response to the National Plan for Music, the Department for Education, alongside Arts Council England, have asked all music hubs to appoint lead schools for music. Nottingham Music Service (NMS) is pleased to announce Nottingham's Lead Schools for Music 2024-25: Forest Fields Primary and Nursery, Greenfields Community School, The Nottingham Emmanuel School and The Trinity Catholic School

Lead Schools will work with NMS to:

  • support other schools in the area to improve music teaching through guidance, planning, hosting and attending school learning networks and CPD sessions
  • research, trial and implement improved ways for teaching staff to work together to improve music education.
  • help curate, design and shape activities that will benefit other schools
  • attend termly planned meetings with NMS and other stakeholders

Open Classrooms Project

One of the first initiatives with the Lead Schools, the 'Open Classrooms Project' is an exciting opportunity for schools to connect & share best practices in music education! Lead Schools for Music are inviting visitors to observe a selection of lessons & have a ‘Teach Meet’: an opportunity for teachers & music leads to collaborate & exchange ideas.
